summer NBR Hair extensions do’s and don’ts for beach & pool days
DO…
1. Before entering the pool or ocean, rinse your hair and apply a leave-in conditioner to create a protective barrier. If your hair is already wet or damp with freshwater, it’s less likely to absorb and hold as much saltwater or chlorine. Pro Tip: Cocktail Goldie locks leave in and conditioner and apply on damp hair before any water activities.
2. Wear a hat or swim cap. The sun can be damaging to both your scalp and hair. So to keep your extensions dry and protected from chlorine or saltwater when you’re not submerging your hair in water wear a hat.
3. Do rinse your hair with fresh water AFTER anytime spent in saltwater or chlorine. Make sure you give your hair a good rinse immediately after to remove any chlorine or salt residue.
4. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair gently, starting from the ends and working your way up.
5. Apply a deep conditioner treatment after pool or beach days to replenish moisture and prevent dryness.
6. Do contact your stylist immediately if your hair gets matted or turns orange. We can quite you and/or give you suggestions.
Don’t…
1. Don’t use just any sunscreen. We strongly recommend using a mineral sunscreen. Pay extra attention to the ingredients in your sunscreen. Some sunscreens can turn extensions orange. The two ingredients to avoid are Avobenzone or Octocrylene. approve sunscreen @barerepublicmineral sunscreen.
2. Don’t leave your hair braided after you get out of the water. Quickly remove hair braids, rinse, apply leave-in and gently brush.
3. Don’t use heat styling tools immediately after. Refrain from using any heat styling tools immediately after swimming, as your hair is more vulnerable at that time.
4. Don't rub your hair vigorously with a towel; instead, pat it dry to avoid tangling and potential damage.
By following these do’s and don’ts, you can enjoy your summer while keeping your NBR extensions looking beautiful and healthy.
