The relationship between water and your hair part 1
Time and time again, we are told to hydrate and drink at least 64oz of water a day. While it is important for our overall health, as water boosts brain function and aids in digestion, did you know that it also has an impact on your hair? Here Are Some Benefits of Drinking Water for Your Hair…
It Encourages Hair Growth & Hair Strength
Sure we have all seen and heard about the “miracle” gummies and hair supplements that are meant to make your hair grow longer, but did you know that each hair strand is made up of about 25% water? Therefore, not getting enough H20 intake in the first place may be slowing down your hair growth.
Water is known for being a powerhouse when it comes to flushing out the toxins in our body and it does the same when it comes to your locks. By staying hydrated, you are allowing any toxins that may be lingering in your hair to be flushed out, which may be preventing it from growing.
You may also notice an improvement in your hair strength as one of the benefits of staying hydrated. This is due to waters ability to activate your roots through the stimulation of your scalps nerve endings, which makes it grow stronger and longer overtime.
It Improves Your Overall Hair Health
Similar to how drinking water gives us glowing skin, improves skin texture and elasticity, it also aids in the overall health of your scalp and hair. As we mentioned earlier, water helps release toxins from the hair, which in turn allows for the proper nutrients and minerals to be absorbed and dispersed throughout your hair strands.
Just like our skin, the scalp also needs to stay hydrated. Drinking water does just that and helps prevent dryness, flakiness, itchiness, and even dandruff. Something so simple as drinking water also has the ability to prevent hair loss, split ends, tangling, dullness, and frizz, which are some of the most common hair problems.
How Much Water Should You Be Drinking?
Many people believe that we should be drinking at least 2 liters or 64oz of water a day, but the adequate amount really varies from person to person. This is due to age, body weight, and other health factors.
According to Harvard Medical School , the average person should be fine when drinking about four to six cups of water throughout the day.
